TimeBank Learning Circles are usually on the first Saturday of the month from 11 AM to 1 PM. You can join us online at our Learning Circle Zoom Room or in person at 6900 McGraw in Detroit. Every month we have announcements and networking from local TimeBanks and then we have a topic for discussion or guest speaker.
Jacqueline Cuevas:
Jacqueline is a wife and mother of three intelligent, wonderful children. She is a native Southwest Detroiter, and along with her husband a proud co-owner of Junction Party Store, where they are proud to be considered an asset to the community. She sees themselves as more than just a business; they actively contribute to local nonprofits, schools, and churches, making a positive impact on the community where they live and hold dear. Jacqueline’s experience as a disabled person with Epilepsy and a seizure disorder fuels her passion to invite others to redefine their lives, freeing themselves from the limitations that society imposes on us through labels, names, diagnoses, and expectations, creating a world where limitations are shattered, and everyone can thrive. Through storytelling she shares her disability story and promotes self-acceptance, no matter how you identify as an individual. She encourages all to embrace their unique stories, empower one another, and build a more inclusive and compassionate society. Her disability affects her balance and mobility. Staying true to her Mexican, Puerto Rican American heritage, Jacqueline’s favorite method of transportation in life is dancing. Through the power of movement, she finds the most joy, freedom, and a sense of liberation. It is where her seizures can exist freely with no judgment. Jacqueline hopes others can take the example of her journey as an invitation to prove that one can overcome adversity and thrive while making a positive impact on those around them by showing up as they are while they work on healing and transition into the individual they have chosen to be.
